Manage audit details

Learn how to define the audit details to present the relevant evidence automatically

It is important to define the details of the audit in the project correctly, in order to ensure that the evidence being displayed is applicable to the relevant audit project.

Set the period

Why is it important to set the period?

So that the audit can include the evidence that was uploaded to Scytale during the audit period.

Note: If you upload an evidence file directly to a specific audit through the Audit Management screen, it will be included in the current audit as well.

Audit types

There are two types of audits that need to be understood in order to set up the period correctly:

  1. Audit performed by a third party
  2. Self Assessment audit

Audit performed by a third party

When the list of controls is audited by an external auditing company, it is important to set the audit period. The evidence will be displayed according to the period that was set.

  • Audit for a period of time: Add the start date and the end date according to the period that was approved by the auditor.
  • Audit for last year: Add the end date as the audit meeting date with the auditor. Then, set the start date to one year before the end date.
Note: The audit meeting may be for a few days. Make sure you set the last day of the end date.

Self-assessment audit

When it is a self-assessment audit, you should set the period that is relevant to your audit.

It is recommended to set the period for a year:

  • The start date is the date when the audit was created, and the project was kicked off.
  • The end date is one year after the start date.

Evidence for the audit period

After you have set the audit period, the evidence will be displayed by the date it was uploaded. However, you can click the "Show" button in the control sidebar to add more evidence to this audit. This will not have an impact on the other files that were uploaded during the audit period.

For more information, read the article "Connect the relevant evidence to the audit".

Completion date

You can select the date when the audit will be done and it will connect your team members to the date of completion.

It is important to note that the completion date is different from the end date since it can be before or after that.

  • Audit performed by a third party: Set the completion date one month after the end date. This is the average time needed in order to finalize the audit evidence as well as the final report, which is prepared by the auditor.
  • Self-assessment audits: Set the date of completion for your team so that everyone in the team will see the deadline when the evidence collection should be completed.

Auditor

For any audit performed by a third party, the name of the auditing firm can be added, in order to make everyone aware of who the auditing firm will be.
