This guide will walk you through using AI to generate, review, and approve answers to security questionnaire
Introduction
Scytale AI transforms the way you handle security questionnaires by drafting answers for you—powered by your own data. Instead of starting from a blank page, let AI do the heavy lifting while you stay in control, reviewing and approving each response. With a strong knowledge base behind it, AI generates accurate, context-aware answers that save time and boost consistency across every submission.
Generating Questionnaire Answers with AI 
Step 1: Build Your Knowledge Base
Before uploading a questionnaire, upload your past questionnaires, policies, and any other relevant documentation. This creates a Knowledge Base rich with context that Scytale AI uses to generate accurate answers.

💡Tip: Your Knowledge Base is the central repository that gives Scytale AI the context it needs to craft tailored answers.
The more content you upload, the better the AI performs.
Step 2: Questionnaire Details
Before AI starts working, add a few basic details about your questionnaire:

Name – The company or individual who requested the questionnaire

Owner – The person responsible for managing and tracking its progress

Due Date – The deadline for submitting your completed answers
These details can be edited later if needed.
Step 3: Upload the Questionnaire
Upload the security questionnaire file received from your client. (Accepted formats: CSV or XLSX.)

Once uploaded, select Generate Answers and Scytale AI will start drafting answers.
The Questionnaire Tab
Once you've uploaded a questionnaire, it will appear in the Questionnaires tab.
Each questionnaire entry displays key information, including the name, due date, upload date, owner, approved answers, and status.
Questionnaire Statuses
There are five possible statuses, reflecting your progress:

– AI is currently drafting answers. This usually takes only a few minutes.
– No answers have been reviewed by you yet.

– You’ve started reviewing the answers.
-
– All answers have been approved.
– Something went wrong with the questionnaire. Delete and reupload it.
For each questionnaire, you can:

Download the questionnaire file

Edit basic details (name, owner, and due date)
-
Delete the questionnaire if no longer needed
Next to the “Add New Questionnaire” button, you’ll also see an overview like:
Completed Questionnaires: 0/1 — this shows your progress across all questionnaires.
Inside a Questionnaire: Reviewing Answers
Click Review AI Answers to open the questionnaire.
Layout & What You'll See

On the left side, you’ll see a list of all questions.

Under each question, you’ll see:

A preview of the AI-generated answer

The status of that question. Learn More about the status' below

The AI confidence level: Low / Medium / High
This reflects how accurate the AI believes its answer is, based on your Knowledge Base. Regardless of confidence level, every answer should be reviewed.

What You Need to Do
Click into each question to review the AI-generated answer.

If you're satisfied with the response, simply click Apply AI Answer.

If you'd like to make changes, edit the answer and then click Approve Answer.
Repeat this process for every question in the questionnaire until all answers are approved.
Understanding the Answer Statuses'
Generating answer
AI is still working. This shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.Ready for Review
AI generated an answer and it's ready for your input. You can:- Apply AI Answer – If no edits are needed.
- Edit & Approve Answer – If you’ve made changes to the AI’s response
Error while generating, try again
AI encountered a problem. Click into the answer and select Try Again.No AI Suggestion, edit manually
AI couldn’t generate an answer. You’ll need to write it manually.

Per-Question Actions
Each question screen includes:

The AI-generated answer

Option to edit the answer

Option to Try Again with AI for a different version

Option to go Back to AI Answer if you edited but want to go back to the original
Bulk Actions
You change the owner or status of multiple answers/questions at once.
Progress Tracking
You’ll also see two helpful counters:

Answers Generated by AI: e.g. 89/129
Reflects how many answers have been generated so far. This number will continue to increase until all are generated. -
Approved by User: e.g. 2/129
Shows how many responses you’ve approved, either by applying the AI-generated suggestion or editing it to fit your needs.Example:
Important: All answers must be reviewed and approved by you. AI will not approve any answers without human action.
The Knowledge Base Tab
Located next to the Questionnaires tab, the Knowledge Base is where you manage the content used by AI to generate more accurate answers.
